He licks his lips as he readies his voice. Sometimes he forgets how to use it.

“I want you to judge my soul.”

“I can’t,” She answers softly. “You aren’t dead.”

“I feel dead.”

“You aren’t.” She grasps his chin roughly and forces him to look at her. “Sebastian.”

His name sounds like a prayer on her lips and he wants nothing more than for her to pray to him. He wants her to worship at his alter, forever. The thought is a nice distraction. Her grip loosens and she smiles softly at him.

“Do you want to know a secret?” Liz whispers and he nods in response.

“I would sentence you to paradise.”
